Munnar- Where the Promise of Travelling Together Lead to New Beginnings

Little did I know about any destination located in Kerala until I got a chance to travel to Munnar for a span of two days. I had never had the passion for travelling and I had always been spending my holidays at Pune, which was my hometown. But my life journey got a lot more interesting when I got married and we decided to set off on a typical honeymoon journey. We had an arranged marriage and even though we had got 6 months before the marriage, the honeymoon journey got us an ultimate chance to know each other better. We did not do a lot of ground study about the place to visit, as we already knew that Munnar was a beautiful destination and the weather had been perfect for us as both of us were lovers of winter and rain, hence the choice of picking Romantic Kerala honeymoon package was finalised. Expecting the journey to be one of the best drives up the hill station we set off to Kerala from the Pune International airport and reached the Cochin International airport where we got out in search of our cab that had been sent by tour planners, Lelagoon Holidays. The special monsoon showers invited us into the cab where the driver talked to us as we drove to Munnar.

The drive took us approximately 4 and a half hours to reach after crossing the traffic of the busy city of Kochi and the drive got much smoother and better when we began to roll up the hills. It awed me that the place was misty even at 1 pm in the morning despite the presence of the sun. We walked through to the resort where the driver dropped us. He gave us an hour and a half to get ready to start sightseeing the beautiful destinations in Munnar. Known as the Kashmir of South India this destination is where the travellers get to enjoy a lot more of nature. It seemed to grow naturally than man made to make the place look pleasing. Everything in the place had been a lot more different than how it had been residing at Pune. We decided to get the best of our trip asking the driver to follow the itinerary send to us by our tour planners.

The first place he dropped us it was the echo point. We had set off on a quick journey when both of our interest fell in the same place and forgot to Google much about the places that had been on the travel list send to us. So we decided to accept surprise and climbed up to the echo point enthusiastically where we got to see other tourists screaming into the air just to hear back their echoes. That was it about the destination and the name it clung on to. We screamed out like teenage lovers into the air and what came back to us was all that we screamed. More than the couple vibes, we had been goofing away from the reality of our lives where we were supposed to showcase maturity and since people were not around us, both of us felt a lot more at ease.

To each and every place we went, my husband kept bothering me about how the place seemed to be similar to other places he had visited. In short, he had been a travel freak and had been to quite a lot of places during his college days. After he started working, it always kept him engaged and this escape seemed to make him lot more enthusiastic. We left the place and called the driver on our phone where he came to pick us up. We were hunger driven for lunch and so he took us to a nice place where we could eat some vegetarian food. Pune and our family had always kept us sinless by keeping us, pure vegetarians. We had enough food that could keep us up until teatime and asked the driver to take us to the next destination. The hills were meant to be climbed and we were so ready to give it a shot by climbing a hill at the destination when the driver dropped us at the Top station. We had had some good amount of food and we realised that we could get clutches in our stomach in case we tried to walk faster. So we took our time and proceeded by taking a lot of pictures with our selfie stick. The people that had been there had been excited in climbing as most of them had been students who had probably been on a picnic or tour.

We were startled of how lucky the people who reside here turned out to be, as they would always get to be in a place like Munnar. We climbed up and walked past to the top just to see the beauty personified by the Western Ghats. The view blew our minds where we had been stuck up for more than an hour. We took, even more, time in climbing down as we had got the company of kids who talked to us in English about how they had reached up to the destination. They even mistook that we were friends on travel than couples as we had been goofing up than being romantic at a destination like that of Munnar. We decided to return back to the resort where the honeymoon suite had been set for us.

After spending two hours freshening up, we decided to go down for dinner as they had invited us for a candlelight dinner. This was indeed special as it was our first candlelight dinner together. They had all the aromatic candles and flowers on the table, which treated us along with delicious food as well. The night passed by and the next day we checked out of the hotel after thanking them as after the sightseeing session we had decided to directly return to the airport to catch our flight. Family and relatives had been all set at Pune to host us in their house as that is how the newlywed people get to eat delicious food in the first month after marriage. The eagerness would probably make them all ask about the Best Kerala tour package from Pune.  Meanwhile, the driver drove us to the Lakkam Waterfalls as viewing one waterfall when visiting Kerala is to be on the travel plan. It was a 10-minute drive and the destination seemed to have quite a number of tourists, which we got to know by seeing the number of cars, and buses that had been there. The season kept the water flowing lusciously and hence the view was quite dreamy.

Only half hour was spent there as while returning we decided to visit the sandalwood forests as well. Even though a lot of other destinations in Munnar where worth the visit we decided to visit the place, as we were fond of sandalwood products. The drive took almost 45 minutes where we got to see a factory of production as well. We decided to spend some time there where we also got to enter the factory. A small shop also was located close to the destination from where we got some natural products, which we brought to take back to Pune. The driver said we had time to visit one more place but we did not want to risk missing the flight due to which we got back on the drive to the airport. The destinations we had been to where definitely blessed with nature, but what really took both of us on the journey was the drive to the place which indeed made us realise that Munnar was indeed the best place to spend a very romantic honeymoon trip.
